Garden Renovation in Hackney

Hackney gardens tend to have a bit more going on than the usual lawn and patio. We design outdoor spaces near London Fields, Victoria Park and De Beauvoir Town that are as individual as the people who ask for them.

A lot of our ideas here come from the area itself, the old industry and the makers. Corten steel planters, reclaimed timber decking, concrete pavers, native wildflower planting. Gardens with a bit of edge that also do something for the local wildlife. That said, plenty of clients want something softer and greener, and that is fine. Every garden we do is its own thing.

The terraces around Victoria Park and Lauriston Road usually have long, narrow plots. We split them into zones so the whole length gets used. A dining area near the house, then a growing patch, a spot for the kids, and a wilder section at the far end. Each part feels separate but they hold together through the materials and planting.

Flats and warehouse conversions often mean roofs and courtyards instead of a garden. We build container gardens, green walls and compact entertaining spaces up there, using lightweight planters and drought tolerant plants to keep the weight and watering down.

Hackney gardens go from long terrace plots around Victoria Park to small courtyards and roof spaces on the converted buildings. People here care about design, and there is real appetite for gardens that help wildlife, grow a bit of food and take sustainability seriously.

Hackney Council actively pushes greening in the borough, and a good garden helps with biodiversity and soaking up rainwater. So a well done Hackney garden is a nice place to sit and a small bit of good for the area at the same time.
